Catching Up on Some News:

Here is a fun photo I took of my Christmas tree with an phone app called Hipstamatic using the 'Salvador Dali' lens. Merry Christmas!
Below is a sneak peek of a watercolor I am working on - I sometimes paint with an old pair of fingerless gloves with the thumb cut open to keep my hands warm enough to hold a brush! It is COLD here in 'sunny' Florida!
Two of my watercolors are in the Community Foundation's Art Ventures exhibition at the Cummer Museum. The show ends January 2 and is worth the effort to go see! The show is celebrating 20 years of grant giving to 91 individual artists. The juried show has about 30 local artists' work and is very diverse and interesting. (Tuesday night is free admission too!)

St. Vincent's Foundation recently purchased 8 of my giclee prints for 4 special patient rooms for primary use by DePaul Society donors/patients. Here is a sampling of the results (Ryan of Gallery Framery was hired to frame them and I 'helped' him put them up. I learned all about security hangers!) Speaking of prints, in working with St. Vincent's I realized I now have 35 paintings scanned to be prints, about 10 landscapes, 11 tablescapes, 8 flowers in nature, 5 misc. subject matter. Two new ones are not on my print website yet but check it out: KATHY'S PRINT WEBSITE Remember, I give people 30% off retail price when you order directly from me! A Christmas present to yourself perhaps?!?

First Coast News Art Walk Interview

Here is a link to the interview video and web article on the First Coast News site.
Ok, so I marketed a bit in my interview and sounded a bit southern and said "alot" alot, I was nervous and not so good at winging it! ...Maybe it was because I had to get up at 4 am to get to the station on time! And I jumpstarted my day with an extra dose of caffeine.

Downtown Art Walk Wednesday; Mosaic Mirror

Here is a photo of an evening project I finally finished, a stained glass mosaic mirror, planned for my patio but finding a permanent home over my mantel.
Come by this Wednesday for Jacksonville's Downtown Art Walk, my work is showing at the
Southlight Gallery. It is on Laura Street in the former Gold's Gym, directly across from the Bank of America tower. I have originals and prints on display as well as a print rack to flip through with some unsold PADs...
(In my studio, I've got six paintings in the works right now but haven't finished any of them, soon though, maybe for the next Art Walk.)

City Skyline Prints, Print Website, "Taste of Talent" Event, A Boy and His Dog Portrait and the Panamanian Embassy

Sorry I am such a bad blogger, I am trying to catch up with some news now:

I painted this "Jacksonville Skyline" bigger, the original oil painting is H 40" W 30" and it is for sale, contact me about it. (I painted it previously as a small "Painting a Day" 6 1/2" x 12" blog painting.) I've had it scanned to be a giclee print, here are the print sizes and prices:

Available as a high quality giclee digital print, using archival ink and acid free paper or canvas:
36" x 27" $900
30" x 22.5" $700
24" x 18" $300
20" x 15" $180
12" x 9" $75
Prints on canvas come stretched on a canvas frame with edges painted, ready to hang up.
Prints on paper must be framed behind glass or plexi. (This image is not yet on my print site.)
I am attending the Riverside Fine Arts Series fundraising event "Taste of Talent" this Friday night, April 30th at the Church of the Good Shepherd from 7 - 11 pm. Tickets are $60. It is a night of live music on multiple stages with great food and art on auction. (The large watercolor above, pictured with Talley for scale, will be available.) Also in the silent auction tables, I donated two small "Jacksonville Skyline" prints on paper or canvas to bid on. I really enjoyed it last year - a very classy, arty, musical affair!
This "Boy and His Dog" portrait was commissioned this Christmas by a thoughtful husband as a gift for his wife. She was blown away by the surprise. He also received some good photos out of our photo posing session too! See my side business of casual outdoor photo sessions here.
I received this photo of the US Ambassador to Panama, Barbara Stephenson at her embassy residence with my watercolor "Tulips, New York Botanical Gardens" on loan through the State Department's Art in Embassies Program.

I will try to be better about posting more often! Cheers!
