GIVE ART Art Walk Wednesday and Patron Party Friday

Come by this Wednesday's Downtown Art Walk and see my wall of paintings at the Southlight Gallery. GIVE ART this Christmas is our theme! I also have a print rack with several prints on paper, one on canvas (more at my home) and what is left of my Painting a Day paintings on a display board. Any would make great presents! Southlight is located at 6 E. Bay Street on the second floor of the Dyal Upchurch building.

If you've ever purchased one of my paintings, consider yourself a patron and stop by the Southlight Gallery for a special party this Friday night. Have a glass of wine and sample food from Fionn McCool's Irish Pub.
Here is a list of my Painting a Day paintings still available: Keukenoff Tulips II $100, Garlic $100, Queen Conch $100, Dad's Toy Truck $75, At The Beach $50, Bahama Blues $50, Boxed Teal $30, Pink Green Red $30, Red, Black, Blue $30, Golden $30. All the is left of the 130+ PADS I painted.

New Watercolor, Southlight 2nd Anniversary and City Cycle Unveiling

My latest watercolor, "Red Tulips, Benelux", 30" x 30" is newly framed and up on my wall at the Southlight Gallery, at our new location in the Dyal Upchurch Building. Also "Field of Poppies" and "Benelux Tulips" are beautifully framed as well and on dispaly. Scroll below to view more photos:
Come to Southlight for this Wednesday's, Downtown Art Walk, Nov. 2 for our 2nd Anniversary celebration. The new space is so beautiful, come by from 5 - 9 pm. It is also open 11 -3 pm Monday through Friday. Go to the second floor.
My friend, Drew Johnson, owner of City Cycle, a bike shop in Avondale, held a special event at Southlight to unveil a new jersey (which I helped design) and a special hand painted bike frame (I painted) which he built with extra light and fancy parts. I also painted a few special bike themed paintings, one in particular, "City Cycle Peloton" shows his group in a pull line. Archival prints will be available in many sizes. The jersey, hand painted bike and paintings are on display at his store on Park Street across from European Street Deli, stop in and check them out.

Calendar Girls

Last week I received a package in the mail saying: "Your dog is a winner". Talley made the Workman Publishers "Dog a Day" Calendar for 2012 as August 9. (I entered two photos about 5 years ago! One made it in the 2007 Calendar and I guess they decided to finally use the 2nd one. Talley is whiter in the muzzle now at nine years old.) And yesterday another package was delivered and I ... or my painting rather made the US Department of State desk calendar for 2012 for Week 42 - October, in relation to my participation in their Art in Embassies program a few years ago. Evidently it will be used as one of their gifts to hand out to dignitaries etc.
Just some fun news to share!

Southlight Gallery Grand ReOpening This Wed. Downtown Art Walk

This Wednesday, Sept. 7, 5 - 9 pm, during the Downtown Art Walk, Southlight Gallery is having a Grand ReOpening. The cooperative gallery I am involved with moved to a new location, the former Push2 Gallery space on the second floor of the Dyal Upchurch Building at 6 E. Bay Street, the north foot of the Main Street Bridge, behind the Chamber of Commerce building. Here is a link to an interesting article in the Jacksonville's Financial News and Daily Record about the move and the Off the Grid program that helps us afford the space. My art is in the background of the photo with our leader, Michael Dunlap.
Other than art walks, special events and openings the gallery's regular hours are Monday through Friday 11 am until 3 pm. I recommend parking at the Jacksonville Landing lot. 28 artists' works are showing of all disciplines. I hope to see you there!

My Art is on Facebook and I Have a New Website!

I'm trying to (finally) catch up in the computer and social media world. "Like" my new Facebook Art page: "Kathy Stark Fine Art" and share a favorite painting image from one of my albums with your Facebook friends. Make a comment or two!

Also peruse my new website: www.kathystark.com The Portfolio section is now easier to view with galleries broken down by subject matter etc. And the galleries have a "Buy Now" shopping cart feature enabling credit card purchases through PayPal. Give that a try too and order an archival print or buy an original painting!
Please feel free to sign the Guestbook page and write a comment. I look forward to reading them. Share this website with your art loving friends! Thanks!

"Neighborhood as Art" Show at the Cummer Museum and New Watercolors

"Delphiniums, Cummer Gardens #2" will be on view as part of the "Neighborhood as Art" show sponsored by the museum and RAP. The opening is Tuesday night 4 - 9 pm. Stop by if you can and the show continues through July 31. Work from 30 area artists will be on display
My latest watercolor, "Field of Poppies" is showing at the Southlight Gallery downtown and is available.
I forgot to post the completed watercolor "Annie's Flowers" after showing a sneak peak in my last blog post in December ...when I was wearing fingerless gloves to paint. It has already been sold but is available in several sizes as a giclee print.
