Holiday Art Walk This Wed. at Southlight: New Work

Above is a new oil on canvas, "Tulips Bouquet", H 36 3/4" W 59", $1600 displayed on my wall at the Southlight Gallery, 6 E. Bay Street, Downtown Jacksonville. It looked great over my fireplace for a few days and would look wonderful in a dining room or living room!...You might recognize it as a previous blog painting, sized 6 x 8 inches, it is much, much bigger now and more detailed.

Our Holiday Art Walk is this Wednesday from 5-9 pm, see our theme below:
We are having Mark Williams play live from 7-9 pm and also have the UNF School of Photography Portfolio Exhibition displayed on the window walls around the gallery.

For the month of December, I am offering 30% off any archival digital print order or print purchase from my display rack at Southlight. (Talk to me and I may be persuaded to give some sort of small discount to any original art purchase too.) My website takes credit card purchases (through PayPal), here is a link to my Archival Digital Print gallery and to my Available Original Paintings gallery to peruse options and sizes online.

October 3 - Downtown Art Walk / New Work / Studio Photos

Come this Wednesday evening, 5 pm - 9pm, to the Southlight Gallery, 6 E. Bay Street, for the October Downtown Art Walk. My art work is now on a more visible wall, right across from the elevator. I have some prints and a print rack in another room too.

John Bunker is joining our cooperative gallery and is the featured artist for this month. Yea!!

Below is a new watercolor: "Tillie Fowler Regional Park Hike"  H 51" W 31" $3000 and it is framed and on my wall at Southlight. This beautiful large park is near me on Roosevelt Blvd. across from NAS and is a favorite place to mountain bike and dog walk.

This watercolor below is titled "North Florida, Theodore Roosevelt National Area, Series #2". It is sold but available as an archival print on paper or canvas and is part of a diptych with "Series #1" not pictured. This lovely park connects to Fort Caroline in Arlington and has one of my favorite hikes up a "mountain" (one of the highest natural places in Jacksonville).

Shown below is a recent watercolor "Cypress, Water, Reflections: Big Santa Fe Lake", H 32" W 51". It is sold too but is available as an archival print on paper or canvas in several sizes.

I switched back to oils recently and painted this painting: "Mexican Daisy Bouquet" H 28" W 28" $1200. If it looks familiar it is because I painted it as one of my small blog paintings and decided to paint it larger. I'll have to say It looks much better in person than my photo.

In August we had the "Dog Days of Summer" at Southlight and I painted this fun acrylic painting: "Dog Locomotion" H 37" W 59" $500. Now it needs a good dog lover home...

I repainted my studio this summer, Benjamin Moore's White Dove and I love how it brightens my petite space especially at night. Talley was happy to pose in all of the photos. I build my canvases outside on my patio and sometimes spill over into my dining room for projects and have occasionally commandeered a friend's garage to paint large abstract paintings but otherwise love my cozy studio with the tall ceiling and three windows.

Artist Reception 3/20 and New Work, Big and Small

Come by this Tuesday evening, 5:30 - 7:30, March 20 to Bella Sera, 919 King Street in Avondale, for an Artists Reception for me and Eileen Corse. Our work is on display there in Liz Grenamyer's catering party space. There will be delicious food and wine as well. Join us! Stop by on your way home for a treat.
Above is a new watercolor just finished, tentatively titled "Pop a Cork", H 31" W 20", I plan on having it there for the party. Earlier I painted it in oil, 8" x 6" for my PAD paintings and decided to try it in watercolor and bigger - painting glass and silver in watercolors is a challenge and a lot of fun.
This oil painting was commissioned by a Santa Fe lake neighbor of my mom's, a thoughtful surprise for his spouse. Titled "Autumn at Santa Fe Pass", it will be available in several sizes as a print, all smaller than the original. Feel free to inquire!
Another commissioned oil painting for a Lake Santa Fe neighbor, given to her husband as a retirement gift for his tenure as Gainesville High School principal. It is titled "Osprey Nest at Big Santa Fe Lake"
Here are some small works painted recently, above, "Pink Field" H 8" W 8", $120 oil on canvas, the 1/2" edges are painted with the image wrapped around.
Above, I experimented with a new watercolor surface, Aquabord and it comes cradled with 2" of wood edges I stained dark oak. This surface allows me to paint watercolors and just seal it with a waterproof clear coat and doesn't need glass or plexiglass, it is ready to hang up as is. "Yellow Study" H 12" W 12" $320 and is a small section of my earlier yellow tulip watercolor. Looking forward to painting more on this surface, I like not having to put watercolors behind glass or plexi.
I call this oil on canvas, "Carnation Abstract" H 10" W 10" $220 and the 1 -1/2" edges are painted with the image wrapped around. The pink themed paintings were painted around Valentine's Day... Feel free to inquire to purchase any of these. Order a print of one of my over 30 images scanned to be a print on canvas or paper, they are uploaded on my website and Facebook print album page. This spring weather is luring me to get outside and kayak and hike around for more subject matter!
